Bangkok is the capital of Thailand in south Asia.It covers an area of 1,568.7 sq km and has a population of about 14,500,000 people.

 

Bangkok is the country's financial center, over one-third of Thailand's banks are un Bangkok. Thailand's basic unit of currency is the baht, with the exchange rate at approximately 30 Thai Baht to one Australian dollar. Most of the factories in Bangkok are small and make food and materials. 

 

Tourism 

Bangkok is one of the most visited city's in the world.  

 

Bangkoks culture has been influence by the modern day, but still has a very proud tradition and buddhist spirit. This culture is on a lot of street corners, in the food, music, dance, the arts and the buddhist temples.  The residents of Bangkok are friendly people, generous and deeply proud of their religion.

 

 

Urbanisation 

Bangkok has just over 16% of Thailands populaion and since 2000 Bangkok's population grown 2.5 times the rate of growth from 1980 to 2000. Between 2000 and 2010 the city grew 30% in population.

The urban area covers almost 900 square miles this is 1.5 times the density of Paris urban areas.

 

Much of the expansion has been in Bangkok and in the suburbs around it. Not only has Bangkok built lots of sky scrapers and tall building it has also built lots of town houses in the new suburbs.
